Neurofeedback Therapy

Your Brain Knows How to Adapt. Sometimes, It Just Needs Better Feedback.

When your brain can adapt and self-regulate more effectively, everyday life feels easier. At Optimal Health RX, our NeurOptimal® Dynamical Neurofeedback® sessions offer a non-invasive, drug-free way to support your brain’s natural ability to optimize itself—helping you build resilience, improve focus, manage stress, sleep better, and enhance overall well-being.

What is Neurofeedback therapy?

Neurofeedback therapy, also known as EEG biofeedback, helps your brain learn to function more efficiently.

During a session, sensors are placed on the scalp and ears to monitor brain activity. The system provides real-time feedback, helping the brain recognize its own patterns and make adjustments naturally.

Unlike medication, neurofeedback doesn't force the brain to change. Instead, it gives the brain information about what it's doing, allowing it to improve its own performance over time.

At Optimal Health RX, we use NeurOptimal®, an advanced neurofeedback system designed to support better brain and nervous system regulation.

How Does Neurofeedback Work?

1. Connect

Sensors are gently placed on the scalp and ears.

2. Relax

Sit back, listen to music, and unwind.

3. Receive Feedback

The system monitors brain activity in real time.

 4. Let Your Brain Learn

Your brain naturally adapts based on the information it receives.

The Dynamical Neurofeedback Treatment Difference

Many people have concerns about neurofeedback "pushing the brain" or causing side effects. This comparison explains why NeurOptimal® is fundamentally different from traditional protocol-based approaches.

NEUROPTIMAL® DYNAMICAL NEUROFEEDBACK® SYSTEM LINEAR SYSTEMS Commonly referred to as Brain Mapping
Process Provides the brain with real-time information about its own activity, allowing it to self-adjust naturally. Pushes the brain in a specific direction to achieve correction.
Focus The focus is on supporting the brain's natural flexibility and resilience. Focus is on treatment.
Diagnosis No diagnosis is required. The brain receives information and adjusts naturally. Requires diagnosis.
Expertise & Skill Expertise is built into the system. No specialist expertise is required to run Sessions. Requires practitioner skill
Invasiveness 100% non-invasive and non-directive. The brain receives information and chooses how to respond. Often directs the brain toward predefined goals using stimulation, frequency training, or manual adjustment.
Side Effects NeurOptimal® does not produce side-effects. We do however understand that some central nervous systems react by taking a 'side-journey' some place they have already been in their life when under extreme fear, anxiety, depression or stress. Potential side effects.
Effort & Control Flexible Session experience, read, write, or simply relax while NeurOptimal® uniquely supports your organic ability to
self-organize. Requires effort on behalf of client to consciously train the mind.

What Can Neurofeedback Treat?

NeurOptimal® neurofeedback has been studied and used clinically across a range of conditions. While it is not a substitute for medical care, research supports its role as a powerful adjunct tool.

ADHD

Improved attention, impulse control, and working memory. A growing body of research supports neurofeedback as an evidence-based ADHD intervention.

Anxiety & PTSD

Reduces hyperarousal and nervous system dysregulation. Widely used with trauma survivors and those with generalized anxiety disorder.

Insomnia & Sleep

Research shows significant improvement in sleep onset, continuity, and quality, without the dependency risks of sleep medications.

Autism Spectrum

Studies indicate benefits in attention, emotional regulation, and social functioning in individuals on the autism spectrum.

Depression

Supports mood stabilization and emotional resilience as an adjunct to existing care plans and therapeutic approaches.

Peak Performance

Used by athletes, executives, and first responders to sharpen focus, reduce performance anxiety, and build mental endurance.

Chronic Stress & Burnout

Regulates the stress response at the neurological level, addressing the root of exhaustion, not just the symptoms.

Cognitive Decline

Early research supports neurofeedback as a neuroprotective and cognitive-supportive tool in aging populations.

Train Your Brain On Your Schedule

The most meaningful changes in nervous system regulation happen with consistent use over time. Our home rental program puts the technology into your daily routine, where your brain actually lives.

Train in Your Natural Environment

Your brain learns best in the space it inhabits. Home training builds adaptation where it matters most.

Consistency Without the Commute

Train multiple times per week without having to schedule around office hours or travel time.

Flexible, Self-Paced Sessions

Morning, evening, or between daily responsibilities, the system fits your life, not the other way around.

Share With the Whole Household

Multiple family members can use the same system. One rental, many beneficiaries.

Supports Long-Term Regulation

Think of it like exercise for the brain. One session helps, but consistent training creates lasting change.

Cost-Effective vs. Office Sessions

Renting is often more economical than repeated in-office visits, especially for families or intensive programs.

Who Benefits Most from the Rental Program?

  • Individuals with chronic stress or burnout
  • Busy professionals with unpredictable schedules
  • Families wanting a shared wellness tool
  • Individuals in rural or suburban areas far from providers
  • Caregivers needing flexible, consistent support
  • Children or teens who thrive with routine
  • Anyone building long-term nervous system resilience
  • Those wanting to complement in-office sessions

 First Responders Program

Law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics, and military personnel carry a unique neurological burden — chronic hypervigilance, shift-work disruption, traumatic exposure, and high-stakes decision fatigue. NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback has been used extensively in first responder communities to support PTSD recovery, sleep regulation, and operational resilience.

Through the official NeurOptimal® First Responders Program, we offer specialized support for those who protect our communities. Contact us to learn about program details, scheduling, and available pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does a NeurOptimal® neurofeedback session actually feel like?

Extremely low-key. You sit comfortably while small sensors placed on your scalp and ears read your brain's electrical activity; nothing is attached to a stimulator or electricity source. You listen to music, and when the system detects an inefficient pattern in your brainwave activity, there is a brief, subtle interruption in the music (a micro-pause or slight skip). That's it. Your brain registers this signal and self-corrects. Many people feel deeply relaxed and occasionally fall asleep during sessions. Sessions typically last 33 minutes.

  • Is neurofeedback safe? Can it "push" my brain in the wrong direction?

NeurOptimal® is one of the safest forms of neurofeedback available because it is non-directive. It provides information to your brain. It does not send any signals, stimulation, or currents, and it does not try to force your brain toward a target frequency. The brain decides how to respond. This is fundamentally different from traditional (linear) neurofeedback protocols, which do attempt to increase or decrease specific brainwave types and carry a small but real risk of neurofeedback therapy side effects. NeurOptimal® is designated a General Wellness Product by the FDA.

  • How many sessions do I need before I notice a difference?

Everyone's brain is different, and NeurOptimal® does not make specific clinical claims. That said, many people report noticing subtle shifts within the first several sessions. More significant and lasting changes tend to emerge with consistent training over time, which is one reason the home rental program is popular for those who want to train frequently. Think of it like physical fitness: one workout helps, but a consistent training habit transforms.

  • Can children use NeurOptimal®?

Yes. NeurOptimal® is gentle enough for use with children and is particularly popular for kids and teens who benefit from routine and consistent training, especially those dealing with attention difficulties, emotional dysregulation, sleep challenges, or anxiety. Many families rent a home system so that children can train regularly in a relaxed, familiar environment.
